Isiolo County's diverse ethnic composition creates a rich cultural landscape encompassing multiple languages, art forms, religious practices, and social traditions.

Borana culture emphasises pastoral wealth accumulation, age-based social organisation, and the gada system of generational leadership. Cattle-based rituals and naming ceremonies mark important life transitions. Somali language, an Oromo dialect, carries cultural knowledge and identity.

Somali communities maintain Islamic religious traditions, distinctive clothing styles, and trading customs. Poetry holds special cultural significance in Somali society, with competitions and performances serving educational and entertainment functions.

Samburu pastoralists are known for elaborate beadwork, distinctive red cloth (shuka) worn as traditional dress, and age-grade warrior systems. Samburu dancing, particularly among young warriors, combines physical expression and cultural identity.

Meru agricultural communities practise traditions reflecting their highland origins, including initiation ceremonies and religious observances. Meru language and cultural practices distinguish them from pastoral communities.

Traditional music uses drums, horns, and stringed instruments. Dances mark celebrations, rituals, and social gatherings. Contemporary music increasingly blends traditional styles with modern influences.

Oral traditions including storytelling, proverbs, and historical narratives transmit cultural knowledge across generations. These traditions are declining as younger people adopt written-based education.

Religious practices include Islamic observance among Somali and some Borana groups, Christianity among Meru and other communities, and indigenous spiritual beliefs maintaining influence. Inter-faith relationships generally cooperate peacefully.

Archaeological and historical sites reflect long human occupation. Rock art, settlement patterns, and place names preserve cultural memory.
