Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi is a veteran Kenyan politician who has served in various senior government positions over four decades. Born in 1960 in Vihiga County, he is the son of Moses Mudavadi, a prominent politician in Kenyatta's government. Musalia entered Parliament in 1989 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Minister of Supply and Marketing at age 29, making him one of Kenya's youngest cabinet ministers. He served as Vice President from 2002 to 2003 under President Moi and has held multiple ministerial portfolios including Finance, Agriculture, and Local Government. Mudavadi has contested the presidency twice, in 2013 and 2022, both times finishing third. He has led several political parties, including the United Democratic Forum (UDF) and the Amani National Congress (ANC). In 2022, he joined William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Alliance as a principal and was appointed Prime Cabinet Secretary after the election. Known for his moderate politics and gentleman demeanor, Mudavadi represents Western Kenya's political establishment.
